Marjorie P. Baxter, 94, of New Castle passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, July 18, 2016.
She was born in New Castle on June 29, 1922, to the late William I. and Margaret Murphy Kelly.
Marjorie married Harry Ed Baxter Jr. on Oct. 21, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2013.
She was a lifelong member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, where she belonged to the Little Flower Club, Ladies Guild and Christian Mothers of the church.
Marjorie loved playing cards, sewing, crafts and trips to the casino. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family and she will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Medved of New Castle; two sons, Harry E. "Buff" (Sis) III Baxter and Thomas L. Baxter, both of New Castle; a sister, Claire Churchill of New Castle; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, James P. and William D. Baxter; three sisters, Catherine M. Kelly, Dolores M. Kelly and Mary E. Dutzer; a brother, William Kelly; and a son-in-law, Andrew H. Medved.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for St. Mary's Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shober, Three Rivers Hospice and a special thank you to Neal, Sue and Phyllis for the loving care they gave to Marjorie.
