Obituary

Marion Rita (Petey) Summers of 150 Koehler Drive, Sharpsville, passed away at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, after an 8 month battle with cancer. She was 76. Her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Robert, was at her side.

Marion was born July 20, 1933 in Sharon a daughter of the late Stephan and Palmyra Vasconi Shernisky. Living in Sharpsville her entire life, she was a 1951 graduate of Sharpsville High School.

She married Robert E. Summers on September 6, 1952 in St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, and remained a homemaker until 1968 when she began working for Packard Electric, Warren Ohio. She retired from there 1995.

Always the green thumb she loved gardening and having the ability to nurture anything green and making it grow. She enjoyed cooking for her family during the holidays and particularly Sunday dinner's. Her home provided her with solace, where she was constantly improving it with her many projects. Many summers she spent outdoors at her pool with family and friends. Marion enjoyed bowling and her Monday card club. She loved traveling to Las Vegas and in her later years, going on a number of cruises with her family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and met monthly for breakfast with her graduating class of 1951.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Summers, at home; three sons: Stephan Summers and his wife Geri, Sharpsville; Robert R Summers and his wife Vera, Irmo, SC; and Mark Summers and his wife Jenny, Hermitage; six grandchildren, Stephen Summers, Jr, Sharpsville; Jamie Mehocic, her husband Aaron, Neshannock Twp. (Lawrence County); Jarryd and Miranda Summers, Sharpsville; and Lindsay and Katie Summers, Hermitage; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Palmyra Keck, Sharpsville; a sister-in-law, Helen Stutzman, Hermitage; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marion was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Shernisky.

Known by family and friends as Petey, a name given to her by her father when she was unable to pronounce Sweetie-Pie, saying instead Petey-Pie, will always be loved and greatly missed.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 740 E. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday (1-02-10) in St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, with the Rev. Matthew Kujawinski, pastor, as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.

Brian Summers Sr. of Sharon passed away at 4:45 a.m. on March 9, 2012 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 54.

Mr. Summers was born January 15, 1958 in Sharon a son of John H. Sr. and Margaret M. Conners Summers.

Surviving are: 4 children, Breanna, Nautica, Brian Jr. and Marcus; 6 brothers, Ervin, Zollie, Grant R., Kerry L., Chris, and Jonathan.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Summers; 2 brothers, John H. Jr. and Carlton L. Summers.

In keeping with Brian's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Cremation will take place in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
