Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday (9-2-11) for Marie Sapala Petroski , Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage, formerly of Sherman Avenue, Sharon, who passed away peacefully of natural causes at 2:00 p.m. Monday (8-29-11) in the in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 94.
Marie was born September 6, 1916 in Farrell Pennsylvania a daughter of John and Victoria Flaga Sapala. She attended schools in Greenville, PA.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka ?Holy Trinity Church, Sharon.
A homemaker, Mrs. Petroski was a former member of the Polish National Alliance bowling league for many years and was a familiar face at the Hickory Recreation Center, Hermitage. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking, and canning vegetables from her garden. She especially enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for the Hurricane Katrina Victims as well as other people in need.
Her husband, John A. Petroski, whom she married on Jan.29, 1940, passed away on December 15, 1982.
She is survived by a daughter, Constance Styduhar and her husband Frank, Hermitage; a son Ronald J. Petroski and his wife Marjorie, Hermitage; three granddaughters, Valerie Thomas and her husband John, Pittsburgh, Suzanne Styduhar, Denver CO, Laura Parish and her husband Ryan, Memphis, TN, five great grandchildren, Delaney O'Brien, Luke and Ellie Rose Thomas, and Ali and Asher Parish. Also surviving is her brother, Michael Sapala, and his wife Shirley, Greenville, four sisters in law, Tenoria Sapala, Farrell, Jean Sapala, Conneaut Lake, Pa., Evelyn Sapala and Helen Petroski, Sharon.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, John, Frank, Theodore, and Walter Sapala, and three sisters, Anna Maykowski, Stella Dudek, and Florence Sapala.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (9-2-11) at 11:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka-Holy Trinity Church, Sharon. A brief prayer service will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to leaving for the church.
Interment: St. Stanislaus Kostka Church Cemetery.
