Obituary

Marie Nicastro, 95, of Brookfield peacefully went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 11, 2018, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren, Ohio. Mrs. Nicastro was born April 30, 1923, in Manhattan, NY to the late Dominic and Helen Muciaccia of Bronx, New York.

At age 17, Marie met the love of her life, Pasquale (Pat) Nicastro. They were married February 11, 1943, and moved to Farrell, PA, where they began their marital life of 75 years. Through the years, they had lived in both Sharon and Brookfield, Ohio.

Although Marie dedicated her life to caring for her family and their home, she also worked part time at the Sharon Store and Willsons Furniture, both Sharon. She loved to play cards, cook and get together with friends and family. Holidays always featured her delicious "world famous" lasagna, meatballs, Italian cookies and the family cheese cake. Marie traveled extensively to many countries with her husband, children and friends, but her favorite trips were those back to New York City while visiting family.

Marie's love of family and zest for life will live on for generations. Her indomitable spirit encouraged all who knew her to persist in the face of many struggles and to always strive to be your best. She brought joy and kindness to every occasion and her love was endless.

In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by three children, Robert (Marti) Nicastro, Hermitage, Jane (Daniel) Cononico, Howland, OH, and Ron Nicastro, Warren; eight grandchildren; Tina Rispinto, Robert Nicastro, Ryan (Carrie) Nicastro, Darcy (Nathaniel) Jones, Coryn (John) Wilson, Keith (Jaime) Smith, Dominic (Rachel) Nicastro, and Sonni Nicastro; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Mucci, age 101, Nanuet, NY.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Fosco; a brother, John Mucci; and a grandson, Ray Nicastro.

The family wishes to thank St. Joseph's Hospital team for providing passionate care to Marie and her family. The hospital's motto "Everyone means the world to someone" is so true. Marie meant the world to her family.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (8-17-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

In keeping with Marie's wishes, the funeral service will be held privately.
