IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie L.
Capson
September 7, 1922 – November 11, 2024
Marie L. (DiCristofaro) Capson, of the Lakes at Jefferson, formerly a longtime resident of Farrell, got her wings and went to walk with the Angels at 6:33 p.m. Monday evening, November 11, 2024, in Sharon Regional Hospital. She was 102 years old.
Mrs. Capson was born on September 7, 1922, in Farrell, a daughter of Valerio and Rose (Leone) DiCristofaro. She was a 1940 graduate of Farrell High School, where her peers voted her as having the most beautiful teeth.
For several years after graduation, she worked at a textile factory in Ravenna, OH, and upon returning to Farrell, worked at the former Protected Home Circle in Sharon.
Mrs. Capson then met her husband, Samuel A. Capson, and the two were married on September 2, 1946, in St. Anthony Church, Sharon.
Marie was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell. A woman of deep faith, Marie dedicated her life to living in accordance with her faith. She watched daily religious programs, prayed her rosary, and read religious books.
Marie, a homemaker, was a dedicated, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished time with her family and enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit her son and his family. She also traveled through most of the 50 states, Italy, and the Holy Land. Later in life, she enjoyed bowling, daily walks at Buhl Park with her husband, and playing Pokeno and Bingo at the Lakes at Jefferson.
Marie also enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams. For her 80th birthday, her grandson, Casey, surprised her with tickets and a trip to a Cleveland Indian game where they announced her Birthday on the jumbotron.
She was affectionately called "Saint Marie."
Marie is survived by a daughter, Carol Capson, and her partner, Gary Podobnick, of Hermitage; a son, Kenneth Capezzuto and his wife, Lisa, St. Augustine, FL; two grandsons, Casey Kohut and his wife, Angela, and Kyle Kohut and his partner, Brittany; a step-granddaughter, Nicole Rainier and her husband, Rob; and five great-grandchildren, Connor, Isabelle, Demetrius, Lauren, and Jack. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Rossetti, and a brother; Anthony DiCristofaro; and a very special, loving, and caring grandson, Dante Capezzuto.
Marie always said she couldn't believe she lived this long after being born at the family home only weighing two pounds. She always said, "Age is just a number!"
The family is very grateful for the years she spent at the Lakes at Jefferson. The staff was very caring and helpful. Marie enjoyed her time with so many wonderful friends. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses of Sharon Regional for their exceptional care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association: Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2835 E Carson St Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
