Marian "Sue" Preston, 60, of West Middlesex, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, August 15, 2025.
Mrs. Preston was born June 30, 1965, in Farrell, a daughter of Charles and Margaret (Benya) Holmes. She graduated from Mercer High School in 1983, where she excelled as a three-sport athlete. Sue continued her athletic and academic excellence at Penn State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, and was later inducted into the Penn State Behrend Sports Hall of Fame for Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball. She later completed her graduate studies at St. Francis University, earning a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management.
For many years, Sue worked in the quality control department at Wheatland Tube Company. She was currently employed by Ohio Star Forge, working as a quality engineer.
Sue was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage, where she actively volunteered with the PTA and served as editor and publisher of the church bulletin for many years. For over a decade, she has served on the West Middlesex School Board and remained active in the West Middlesex All Sports Boosters, where she built and cultivated many lasting friendships.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother. Sue supported her son, Richie, in all of his endeavors and especially loved cheering him on at his many sporting events, most recently at Salem University.
Her beloved husband of nearly 31 years, Richard A. Preston, whom she married on September 24, 1994, survives at home.
Sue is also survived by her son, Richie Preston, West Middlesex; her mother, Margaret Holmes, Hermitage; a brother, Michael Holmes (Lisa), Grove City, PA; two nephews, Alex Holmes and Eric Sabo; two nieces, Lauren and Megan Holmes; and many loving cousins and dear friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Charles; a nephew, Greg Sopher; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Sabo.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (8-20-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon, which will conclude with a Panachida Vigil officiated by Fr. David Mastroberte. A calling hour will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday (8-21-25) in St. John's Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Road, Hermitage.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m., in the church, with Fr. David Mastroberte, officiating.
Interment: St. John's Orthodox Cemetery, Hermitage.
