IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margie E.
Crompton
March 27, 1926 – September 13, 2025
Margie E. Crompton, 99, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, late Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, while under hospice care at St. Paul's Home, Greenville.
Mrs. Crompton was born March 27, 1926, in Bethel, PA (Mercer County), a daughter of the late Wayne and Sylvia (Smith) Jarrett. A 1944 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, she later completed her Licensed Practical Nursing certification.
After raising her children, Margie worked as an LPN at the former Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital in Farrell. She then worked in the same capacity for Dr. Howard Miller in Sharon and Dr. James Likens in Hermitage.
A lifelong Christian, Margie was a former member of Sharon Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She was also active in the Mercer County Historical Society, where she served on the board of directors, the Growing Wiser Homemaker Group, and formerly volunteered with the American Red Cross.
Margie always looked forward to fishing, especially while on her trips to Canada. She enjoyed league bowling with her hospital co-workers and was a talented roller-skater – a hobby she began in her teens and was still able to enjoy at the age of 90. She was also an avid gardener, tending to both her flowers and vegetables.
Her husband of 61 years, Harold R. "Bob" Crompton, whom she married in June of 1945, preceded her in death in October of 2006.
Margie is survived by two daughters, Nancy Kaliney, Hermitage, and Rebecca "Becky" Maybray (Rick), Mercer; and a beloved granddaughter, Dr. Amanda Kuharik, Hermitage, who affectionately called her "Ganger."
In addition to her husband and parents, Margie was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Walter, and Wayne Jarrett; a sister, Myrtle Giroski; and a son-in-law, George J. Kaliney.
In keeping with her wishes, all services will be held privately. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
