A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday (7-24-10) for Margaret A. "Peg" Walko, Mayfield Road, Sharpsville, who was welcomed by the angels to her new heavenly home at 11:32 a.m. Wednesday (7-21-10). She passed away peacefully in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 66.
Margaret Ann Walko was born on August 8, 1943 in Sharpsville, Pa the daughter of Michael and Ann Smartz Walko.
At the age of 17 she was paralyzed from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Due to Margaret's tenacious spirit, refusing to let life get her down, she pursued her life goal of college. She graduated from Seton Hill College, Greensburg, Pa., where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and her Associates Degree in History. She later matriculated to Western Illinois University where she earned her Masters Degree in Economics. She began teaching mathematics for the Pennsylvania State University Shenango Valley Campus. She went on to teach History and Economics at what is now known as Kennedy Catholic High School where she retired after thirty years of service.
Peggy enjoyed traveling, reading, and was known for her beautiful needle work. She also loved cats especially her buddy Ginger.
She is survived by her brother and sister in law Michael T. Walko and Karen Ann Walko, and her nephew Joseph Walko all of Kent, Ohio.
Her parents preceded her in death.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday (7-24-10) in Church of the Notre Dame, Highland Road, Hermitage with Msgr. Edward J. Zeitler, senior associate of Notre Dame as celebrant.
Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
