Margaret "Peggy" J. Toy, 83, a longtime resident of Edinburg passed away peacefully surrounded by family late Friday afternoon, July 18, 2025, in the Haven Nursing Home.
Mrs. Toy was born July 1, 1942, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Nye) Cornwell.
A homemaker, Peggy enjoyed dancing and playing Bingo or being outdoors fishing and camping. Above all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Her husband of 61 years, Daniel L. Toy, whom she married August 11, 1963, preceded her in death on February 4 of this year.
Peggy is survived by five children, Robert Toy (Sharon), of Mahoningtown, Sandra Smith, of New Castle, James Toy, of Pulaski, William Toy (Stephanie), of New Castle, and Cheryl Hoffman, of New Castle; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Alex; and five brothers, Chuck, Donald, Robert, Ralph, and Enis Cornwell.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Haven for their exceptional kindness and care.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday (7-23-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Craig Shaeffer, officiating.
Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
