Supel

Margaret K. Supel, of Transfer, and formerly a longtime resident of Farrell, passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 20, 2025, in the Grove at Greenville. She was 101.
Mrs. Supel was born March 4, 1924, in Hickory Twp., a daughter of the late John and Mary (Simmer) Gassner, and graduated from Hickory High School in 1941.
A dedicated homemaker for many years, Margaret worked for Farrell Ordinance during WWII and for Rite Form Garments from 1946 to 1951. Her favorite job, however, came later in life while working for Western Reserve Metals from 1987 to 2000.
Margaret was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting.
Her husband of 55 years, Joseph J. Supel, whom she married August 27, 1949, preceded her in death on January 28, 2005.
Margaret is survived by a son, Richard Supel (Alaine), Sharpsville; a daughter, Cynthia Supel, with whom she made her home in Transfer, PA, three grandchildren, Matt Supel (Liz), Lana Sump (Cory), and Chelsea Abbott (Ben); seven great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Jordyn Supel, Nora, Neil, and Leah Sump, and Marlyn and Joslyn Abbott; and two brothers, Rudy Gassner (Barb) and Martin Gassner (Janet).
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by six brothers, Joe, John, Bill, Frank, Steve, and Lawrence Gassner; four sisters, Mary Winter, Teresa Henderson, Anne Vodjack, and Betty Nettinger; and a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Supel.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (4-23-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Rd., West Middlesex, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hermitage.
