Margaret "Velma" Ryan, a lifelong resident of Sharon, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, June 6, 2018, in Clepper Manor CCRC. She was 97.
Ms. Ryan was born April 10, 1921, in Sharon, a daughter of the late James J. and Ethel Mae (Wills) Ryan. She attended Sharon Schools.
Velma worked in the lab at National Malleable, Sharon, during WWII.
She was a lifelong member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, where she worked as a custodian for many years, both at the church and the former parochial grade school.
Velma enjoyed listening to Irish music, playing bingo and watching sports, particularly horse racing.
Surviving are: a brother, John (Antoinette) Ryan, Sharon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Logan; and three brothers, James, Thomas and William Ryan.
Calling hours will be 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass Friday (6-8-18) in St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Friday, in the church, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary Cemetery, Hermitage.
