Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" L. (Milanese) Olshavsky of Hermitage passed away following a brief illness at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, where she was a resident for three weeks.  She was 87.

Mrs. Olshavsky was born October 25, 1929, in Brookfield, Ohio, a daughter of Dominic and Genevieve Votino Milanese.  She attended the former Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School, Sharon, and was a 1948 graduate of Brookfield High School.

Following her graduation and prior to her marriage, Peggy was employed at the former General American Transportation Corp. (GATX), Masury.  She married Peter Olshavsky, Jr. on September 15, 1951 and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.

Peggy loved to bake for her family, friends and neighborhood.  Her cinnamon rolls were delicious and just one of the many specialties she made.  An accomplished seamstress, she sewed for her children when they were young and always made her curtains for her home.  Peggy adored her grandchildren and loved attending their sporting and scholastic events.

Surviving are: her husband Pete Olshavsky, a resident at Nugent's  in Hermitage; four children, Peter Olshavsky, III and his wife Lynn, Hermitage; Gerald Olshavsky, Fayetteville, NC; Peggy Cataldi and her husband Don, S. Pymatuning Twp.; and Debi Englebaugh and her husband Bob, Lake Latonka; ten grandchildren, Christina Koch and her husband Chuck, Moon Township; Peter Olshavsky, IV and his wife Joyce, Lincoln, NE; Nick Olshavsky and his wife Lee, Cincinnati; Jill and Julie Cataldi, Sharpsville; Jordan Cataldi and his wife Beth, also Sharpsville; Taylor Englebaugh, Pittsburgh; Morgan Englebaugh, Morgantown, WV; and Jessica and Jerry Olshavsky, Fayetteville, NC; 10 great grandchildren, Alex and Matthew Koch; Emma and Lucas Olshavsky; Emma, Dom and Elyse Cataldi; and Brian, Brianna and Kristopher Olshavsky; and a sister, Joan "Jenny" Carbo, Fowler, Ohio.

Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty, who died in 2007; a son, Tom, who died in 2012; five sisters, Rose Toriello, Sister Delores (Ruth) Milanese, Mary McCabe, Josephine Mogun and Maria Milanese; and two brothers, Victor "Veto" Milanese and Patsy Milanese.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

There are no calling hours.


Service: Private.  Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
