Obituary

Margaret Ann 'Molly' Iorio, 940 Theresa Ave., Hermitage, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Thursday (10-15-09) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell, following a brief illness. She was 81.
Mrs. Iorio was born January 12, 1928 in Farrell a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Santell Trozzo.
She was a lifelong area resident and a 1946 graduate of Farrell High School.
Molly was last employed as a waitress at the former J.C.Penney's Store in the Shenango Valley Mall, Hermitage. She previously ran the lottery machine at the former Sharpy's Restaurant in Sharpsville for a brief period and worked at the former Blases' Hardware Store, also Sharpsville, which was owned by her son. Molly worked as a dog groomer, assisting Jane Pantall, for ten years during the 1970's.
She was a 25 year member and past president of the Ladies Guild at the former Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital, Farrell, and was instrumental in the planning of their Follies Show. She was a member and past officer of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Sharpsville American Legion and served as a Judge of Elections in Hermitage for many years. Earlier in her life, Molly was very active in the Hickory High School Football Booster Moms and served as a past president. Most recently she enjoyed playing cards in a card club which she belonged to for many years and was active with the Farrell High School class of '46 reunion committee. A homemaker, she was a charter member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and a former member of its Ave Maria Society.
Her husband, Blasé A. 'Benny' Iorio, whom she married November 26, 1949 in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, passed away March 3, 1984.
Surviving are: three daughters, Janet L. Webber and her husband Daniel, Sharpsville; Christal M. Daoust and her husband Kenneth, Hermitage; and Toni Lynn Bennett and her companion Robert Vannoy, Hartford, Ohio; a son, Blasé A. Iorio, Jr. and his wife Joyce, Sharpsville; a sister, Helen 'Dolly' Scheuermann, Sharon; eight grandchildren, Cori Lin and Blasé A. Iorio III; Mandy Aley and her husband William; Nikki Leyde and her husband David; Joseph Daoust and his fiancé Elizabeth Snook; Benny Daoust; Noah Bennett and Elijah Vannoy; five great granddaughters, Emily, Jenna and Maggie Leyde; and Mia and Macie Aley; and a special friend, Ben Simmons, Hermitage.
Besides her parents and husband, Molly was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Bateman; and an infant brother.
Molly's family would like to thank the staff and residents at Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, for their tremendous care and friendship. She thoroughly enjoyed her brief stay there and looked forward to the many activities. May God Bless all of you.
