Obituary

Margaret "Margie" Granatosky, of Farrell, passed away peacefully in her sleep with family by her side at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, January 13, 2019, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.  She was 91.

Mrs. Granatosky was born August 12, 1927, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Karl and Mary (Bobbie) Siwiecki.  She was a lifelong area resident and a 1945 alumna of Sharon High School.

Following her graduation, and prior to her marriage, Margie was a legal secretary for the City of Sharon for eleven years.  She later retired from the former Whitmer-Smith store in downtown Sharon where she was employed for 28 years in ladies apparel.

A devout Catholic and daily communicant, Margie was a member of the former Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, and a current member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon.  She was also a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 507, Sharon.

An exceptional homemaker, Margie was an excellent cook and an accomplished seamstress.  She was a volunteer at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell for the past 18 years and belonged to a ladies card club that has been meeting for nearly 70 years.  Margie was in many bowling leagues and that is where she met her husband, Mike.  She was also very generous to children.  "I just want to make sure that all the kids know someone is thinking about them and someone loves them."

Surviving are: her husband of 63 years, Michael J. Granatosky, whom she married September 24, 1955 in Church of the Sacred Heart; two sons, Mark Granatosky and his wife Patrice, of Connecticut, and Michael Keith Granatosky and his wife Maria, of Florida; four grandchildren, Eve, Joseph, Michael and Coty Granatosky; two sisters, Pauline Ference, of Sharon, and Dorothy Zajac, of Farrell; two brothers, Karl Siwiecki, of Texas, and Bob Siwiecki and his wife Annie, of Florida; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Siwiecki, of Clarion, Pa.; and numerous loving nieces and nephews and she loved them all.

Besides her parents, Margie was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Bonar and her husband Clyde, and Mary Friedrich and her husband Kevin; two brothers, George Siwiecki and his wife Gladys, and David Siwiecki; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Zajac and Ivan Ference.
