Margaret Chrobak

Margaret I. Chrobak, 96, of Poland, OH, formerly a longtime resident of Shenango Twp., peacefully received her wings on Saturday, July 26, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Youngstown, OH, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Chrobak was born on February 19, 1930, in Youngstown, OH, later moving to Cortland, OH, where she graduated from Fowler High School.

Margaret was the daughter of the late Frank and Velma Virag. She married Victor Chrobak in 1952, and he preceded her in death in 2020. Together, they worked at the family farm, Shady Lane Dairy. Later, she spent her time as a loving caregiver.

At the heart of Margaret’s life was her deep love and faith in God, which radiated from her beautiful smile and interactions – no matter what she was doing.

Margaret was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary’s Church, where she served as a sacristan for 35 years, belonged to the Third Order of Franciscans (Lay Order), and was a member of the Blue Army.

She is survived by four children, Frank Chrobak, Vickie Young, Mary Frisbee (Edward), and Anthony Chrobak (Susan); and two grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Chrobak; a brother, Eugene Virag; and a sister, Helen Phillips.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the earthly angels at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially those in the Critical Care Unit.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (7-31-26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (8-1-26) for Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary’s Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. by Rev. Ben Barr, pastor.
