Marcia Ann Glaser, 591 Carnegie Ave., Sharon, passed away at 12:00 a.m. Friday (9-16-11) at her sister's residence following an extended illness. She was 64.
Marcia was born November 17, 1946 in Sharon the daughter of Harold E. and Shirley J. Brickley Kerns. She graduated from Hickory High School in 1964.
An active member of First United Methodist Church, Sharon, she was the Volunteer Christian Education Director and belonged to both the Ladies Bible Study, and the Church's Elizabeth Circle. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Marcia enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Tuesday Night Card Club for over 35 years. She was known for her sewing and especially loved sewing dresses and Halloween costumes for her granddaughters. Earlier in her life she was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Sharon Post 299.
Her husband, Richard D. Glaser, whom she married August 28, 1965 in Hickory United Methodist Church, passed away earlier this year on March 10, 2011.
She is survived by two daughters, Margo Letts and her husband Brad, Sharon and Alexis Rose and her husband Tim, Columbus, Indiana; a sister, Linda Gagliardi Redmond, Hermitage; a brother, Harold Kerns and his wife Lucy, Pasadena, California; five grandchildren, Scarlet Rose, Katherine Letts, Cassandra Letts, Garrett Rose and Tyler Rose; five brother-in-laws, James Glaser and his wife Palma, Hermitage, Ronald Glaser, Hubbard, Ohio, Dale Glaser, Sharon, William Glaser and his wife Trudy, Harrisburg, PA and Robert Glaser and his wife Faith, Indian Trail, North Carolina; two sister-in-laws, Slly Dufford, Hermitage, and Carol Glaser and her companion John Donaldson, West Middlesex, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by a niece Barbara Parker.
The family suggests memorial contribution may be made to the First United Methodist Church Christian Education Fund, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday (9-18-11) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State Street, Sharon, and from 3:00 until the time of service Monday (9-19-11) in the First United Methodist Church, Sharon.
