Madeline E. Cerni of Brookfield, Ohio passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 80.
Mrs. Cerni was born April 7, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of William and Florence (Caruso) Mosiello. She was a 1952 alumna of Fort Hamilton High School, Brooklyn, NY.
Madeline was employed as a secretary at Lennen & Newell Advertising Agency (the 13
th
largest agency in the United States at the time) in New York City and later in Spain. Subsequently, she became the administrative assistant to the president of Norman, Craig and Cummel Advertising Agency in London, England. Madeline moved back to the United States and retired as an administrative assistant to the general manager of Standard Transformer.
Her husband, Sam Cerni, whom she married in March of 1972, survives at the residence.
Madeline enjoyed traveling, collecting pottery, needlepoint and reading. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Joan Giaimo, Brooklyn, NY; Rosemary "Cookie" Salica and her husband Salvatore, Staten Island, NY; and Geraldine Rich and her husband Louis, also Brooklyn, NY; many, many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Albert Mosiello.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the Salvation Army.
