Obituary

M. Kathleen "Kay" Stockan, 83, of Hermitage, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Quality Life Services, Mercer.

Ms. Stockan was born on September 3, 1940, in Latrobe, PA, a daughter of the late Thomas and Rebecca (Everett) McKay. She was a Latrobe High School graduate and completed the nursing program at Magee Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was employed for more than 30 years as the director of nursing at the former Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer.

Kay was an active member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a small group leader.

She loved walking, especially at Buhl Park, reading, sewing, and meeting friends for lunch. Kay also enjoyed golfing and was in a league at the Mercer Public Golf Course. One of her true passions was beading. She took great pride in her jewelry and for several years made items for St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage.

Her first husband, Robert D. King, passed away on July 14, 1982. In 1989, she married Michael N. Stockan, Jr. who passed away on February 12, 2018.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne K. Churchman, Pulaski; two sons, Robert T. King and his wife Wendy, Edinburg, PA, and Scott P. King and his wife Kimberly, Severn, MD; four grandchildren, Holly, Sarah and Chloe King, and Sydney Churchman; a sister, Barbara "Bibsy" Conrad; and a brother, Thomas McKay, both of Latrobe, PA.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday (03/04/2024) in St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, with Rev. James Power, pastor as celebrant. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com

The family will receive friends immediately following the Mass in the church social hall.

Interment: Mercer Citizen's Cemetery.
