Lucy C. Zakrzewski, formerly of Hazen Rd., Hermitage, passed away at
9:55 p.m.
Sunday, May 7, 2017, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 90.
Mrs. Zakrzewski was born November 25, 1926, in Sharon, a daughter of Fred and Rose Merola Conti. She was a lifelong area resident and attended Sharon schools. A homemaker, Lucy was a longtime member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. She was a devoted wife and mother and was most happy when she was cooking for her family and friends in her home. Lucy was a member of the American Business Women's Association and served as a volunteer with Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care.
Her husband, Frank J. Zakrzewski, whom she married October 5, 1946, passed away September 16, 1990.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne M. Padenich, Hermitage; two sons, Frank J. Zakrzewski and his wife Laurie, The Woodlands, TX; and Richard L. Zakrzewski, Hermitage, with whom she made her home; three grandchildren, Chris Padenich and his partner Nicki Stone; Todd Padenich and his wife Sara Jo; and Carrie Curie and her husband Michael Ross; two great grandchildren, Stella Ross and Jake Law; and a sister, Marie R. "Rachael" Zoccola, Vienna, Ohio. She also leaves her "adoptive" family, Peggy Anderson and her two sons, Jarrod and Mitchell and her beloved dog, Ms. Ellie.
Besides her husband, Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Julia Yannarella, Grace Mistretta, Rose Dorus, Mary Paoletta and Louise Knotts; and three brothers, Joseph, Fred and Anthony Conti. Lucy was also preceded in death by her "adoptive" son, Tracy Anderson.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501-1920 or Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 1955 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 , in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 , in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with Rev. Richard Allen, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
