Luanne Fabry, 85, of New Castle, passed away late Saturday evening, October 26, 2024, in the Haven Convalescent Home.
Mrs. Fabry was born April 16, 1939, in New Castle, a daughter of Clair Oberleitner and Louise (McCormick) Oberleitner Gettings. A 1957 graduate of New Castle High School, she earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Education from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA.
Luanne worked in the laboratory of St. Francis Hospital and later as a medical secretary for Dr. Shoukry Matta and Assoc.
Luanne was a member of Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary's Church, where she had completed her parochial schooling as a child.
Over the last 30 years, she had run Luanne's Ceramics out of her home where many of her clients had become dear friends.
She remained active in the community by volunteering at the New Castle Library, and years prior, had volunteered in the Hostess Shop of St. Francis Hospital. Luanne was a former member of the Embroiderers Guild and a current member of Ladies with Hatitude - Red Hat Group.
After retiring, Luanne traveled extensively through Europe on several trips, visited Israel, and embarked on many cruises with friends and family - her favorite being a land/sea excursion to Alaska.
Her husband, Richard G. Fabry, whom she married May 20, 1989, preceded her in death on May 16, 1993.
Luanne is survived by two sons, David Michael May (Sharon), of Edinburg, and Timothy Patrick May, of New Castle; five grandchildren, Allison Jones, Andrew M. May, Aimee Bisignani (Jeff), Steven C. May (Brienne), and Robert Jones (Samantha); and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (10-30-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday (10-31-24) for St. Camillus Church, 314 W. Englewood Ave., New Castle, where a
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. John Gizler, presiding.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Union Twp.
