Lowell K. "Lenny" Leonhardt, 85, of New Castle, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 23, 2017, in his residence.
Mr. Leonhardt was born May 6, 1931, in New Castle, a son of the late William and Victoria Finney Leonhardt. He was a lifelong area resident and 1949 graduate of Shenango High School. Lenny was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
He owned and operated the former, Leonhardts American Station, located on Wilmington Rd., Neshannock Twp., until 1972, while also working for several steel mills in the area, retiring in 1984.
Lenny was a "Jack of All Trades" who enjoyed building things, helping others fix things and working outdoors on his vegetable garden.
He is survived by his only daughter, LuAnn McAnallen; two grandchildren, Melissa Cassidy and A.J. Cassidy, III; and a great grandson, A.J. Cassidy, IV; all of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, Lenny was preceded in death by his girlfriend of more than 30 years, Janet White.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday ( 4-28-17 ) at Castleview Memorial Gardens, 3010 Wilmington Rd, New Castle, PA 16105.
Interment will be in Castleview Memorial Gardens. .
