Obituary

Louise Arlene Turner of Sharon passed away at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 89.

Mrs. Turner was born January 7, 1929 in Johnstown, PA the daughter of James Francis and Emma Hopper Warner.  She attended Farrell High School and graduated from the Wilmar Beauty School, Sharon.

Arlene retired from the Packard Electric Corporation, Warren in 1990 where she worked as an assembler for 20 years and was a union representative for local #717 and a union counselor.  Arlene was a part of a national campaign ad for General Motors in the 1980's. Earlier in her life she also worked as an assembler for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.  Arlene owned and operated Arlene's Beauty Shop from her home for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hermitage.  She was a member of the Shenango Valley V.F.W. post #1338, Sharon; the American Legion Auxiliary post #299, Sharon; the Loyal Order of Moose lodge #55, Farrell; the Elks Lodge #103, Sharon; and the Mercer County Chapter of AARP.  She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels; was the secretary for Sharon Steel retirees and enjoyed gardening and antiquing.

Her husband, Clinton Robert Bob" Turner whom she married July 8, 1950, passed away January 21, 1997.

Arlene is survived by a daughter, Traci A. Turner Hankins, Sharon; a son, Robert C. Turner, Hermitage; two sisters, Nancy L. Walpole, Niles, Oh and Shirley States, Hermitage; a brother, William Warner and his wife Betty, Australia, one granddaughter, Kristi Kester and her husband Shane, Cleveland, OH; and two great granddaughters, Sofia Louise and Madalynn Grace Kester.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Francis Warner.
