Louis A. Ferrucci Sr. of New Castle passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 1:13 a.m. in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with his family by his side. He was 72.

Mr. Ferrucci was born in Wampum, PA on December 11, 1938, a son of Joseph and Bessie McKinnis Ferrucci.

He was a 1956 graduate of Wampum High School. While in school he was a trombone player in the high school marching band.

Following high school, Lou went on to serve his country in the United States Army.

Lou was a crane operator for over 40 years, through his employment with Koppel Steel and the former B & W Steel.

Mr. Ferrucci was a member of the local Steel Works Union. He also was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all, Lou loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by, his wife, Edna Kelly Ferrucci, whom he married May of 1973; 2 sons, Louis Ferrucci Jr. and his wife Katrina of Valrico, FL, Dr. Paul Schweikert of New Castle; 2 daughters, Dana and her husband Bob Stiger of New Castle, and Elayne Schweikert and her husband Bill Huber of New Castle; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas and Katie Ferrucci and Cassie and Jaymee Stiger; 3 nieces and nephews, Tayler and Jakob Doerr and Cody Kelly; 2 brothers-in-law, David and his wife Karen Doerr and Steve Kelly; 1 sister; 3 brothers.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, PA 16101

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Victor J. Molka, pastor of Mary Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary's Church.
