Louis D. Caracci Sr. Marienville, Pa., formerly of Saratoga Drive, Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 2:05 p.m. Friday (5-13-11) in Clarion Hospital, Clarion Pennsylvania, following a brief illness. He was 77.
He was born May 1, 1934 in Sharpsville, Pa. the son of George and Barbara Carlo Caracci and attended Sharpsville Schools.
He retired from the former General American Transportation Corporation in Masury, Ohio, and he previously worked at Shenango Inc., Sharpsville.
A decorated veteran, he served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with several medals and commendations. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1424, Marienville, Pa. He was a former member of the Sharpsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 162 where he had served as an officer in years past.
Over the years he enjoyed coaching several Baseball and Football teams but was most known for his involvement with the Sharpsville Midget football program. An outdoorsman, he loved both fishing and hunting.
Throughout his son's school years he was an active father and familiar face around the ball fields, he was always there to guide and support the teams that they played for.
His wife the former Anna T. Wanacheck whom he married on June 16, 1956, passed away on November 22, 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, Faith Ann Forgacs and her husband Thomas, Summerville SC; Tina L. McGregor and her husband James, Royal Palm Beach, Fl; three sons, Louis D. Caracci Jr., Dillon, South Carolina; George A. Caracci and his wife Dawn, Laurel, MD; John M. Caracci and his wife Lisa, Hartford, Ohio; one sister Helen Walker, Hermitage, and one brother Joseph Caracci, Apache Junction, AZ; ten grandchildren, Scott Bashor, Brian Forgacs, Lindsay and Joshua McGregor, and Nicole McGregor., Louis Caracci III, Brittany Caracci, Brooke Caracci, and Hailey and Logan Caracci.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Deborah L. Caracci.

Services: A procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday (5-17-11) for St .Mary's Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. where full military honors will be rendered a t 11:00 a.m. by the West Middlesex VFW Post 6233 and the Wheatland American Legion Post 432 Honor Guard.
