Obituary

Lois Marie (Schreckenghost) Perna, Hermitage, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, in her home. She was 77.

Mrs. Perna was born January 17, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of Joseph and Emily Schorek Schreckenghost.

She moved to the area as a young girl and attended Sharpsville schools.

Prior to her marriage, Lois was employed at the former Sharon Store, G.C. Murphy Co., Warehouse Sales and the Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation, all Sharon; and Packard Electric Corporation in Warren, Ohio.

A homemaker, she was a long time member of St. Stanislaus Kostka-Holy Trinity Church, Sharon. Lois loved dining out, travel and being with her many friends. She was a kind and loving person who was always thinking about others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her husband, Mario J. Perna, whom she married September 13, 1958, passed away June 8, 2007.

Surviving are: a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Joyce Perna, Sharon; three daughters, Christine Schwartz, Farrell; Mary Ann Perna, Hermitage; and Laura Spohn, New Castle, PA; ten grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Lois was one of ten children and also leaves a sister, Eleanor Yudt and her husband Henry, Sharon; four brothers, Harold Wooten and his wife Gertrude, Sharon; Floyd Schreckenghost and his wife Pat, South Carolina; Raymond Schreckenghost and his wife Shirley, Nevada; and Albert Schreckenghost and his wife Annie, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Julie Schreckenghost, Sharpsville; and Ida Dudzenski, Sharon; and a brother-in-law, Henry Perna, Farrell.

Besides her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Harry and Joey Schreckenghost; and a sister, Mary Brannon.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, in St. Stanislaus Kostka-Holy Trinity Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Jeffery Lucas, pastor, as celebrant.
