Leora F. Hartzell, 63, of 122 Lindsay Lane, Wampum, passed away at 10:09 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Jameson Hospital.
Leora was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 3, 1948 to the late Francis and Phyllis Prusack Abraham.
She was a 1966 graduate of Mohawk High School and later graduated from Beaver County Community College School of Nursing. Leora worked as a registered nurse in the surgical unit for 23 years at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital and for 5 years at St. Francis Hospital and Jameson Hospitals, she retired in 2007.
She married Richard D. Hartzell in 1967 and he survives her at home. Leora was a member of Clinton Methodist Church in Wampum. She was a member of the Beaver County Ski Club, The Lawrence County Pond Society and The Ohio Nurses Association. Leora enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, bird watching and motorcycle riding.
Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Lisa L. Hess and her husband Scott of Cresson, PA; a son Michael R. Hartzell and his wife Wendi of Flagstaff, AZ; one sister Arlene Bara of Wampum and two brothers, Ron (Tink) Abraham of Clarion and Don Abraham of Wampum.
Besides her parents, Leora was preceded in death by two brothers, Bryan and John Abraham.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. in the funeral home, conducted by Rev. David A. Alleman, pastor of Clinton Methodist Church.
