Lawrence E. Ciambotti of Sharon passed away at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, after a five-month illness. He was 72. Larry was born Nov. 3, 1942, in New Castle, a son of Guy Samuel and Jean Louise Eckles Ciambotti. He was a 1960 graduate of New Castle High School and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University. Larry served with the Air Force for four years and returned to the Shenango Valley following his honorable discharge. He began his career with CIT Financial, Sharon; and also worked at Inn 62, Hermitage, which his parents owned and had operated since 1959. He and his brother, Frank, co-owned the family business for nearly 15 years before retiring in 2003 when the business was sold. Larry was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon. He loved history, politics, reading and music. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Wednesday night Inn 62 Golf League at the VFW Golf Course in Hermitage. He also enjoyed traveling with friends on golf outings to Hilton Head Island and Florida, watching the Golf Channel and making customized golf clubs. Larry also was a fan of Notre Dame football and always looked forward to attending a game in South Bend. Surviving are four sisters, Anna M. Ciambotti and her husband William H. Adams, Youngstown; Ellen L. Ciambotti and her companion David Bostic; and Lorraine J. Elswick and her husband C. William Elswick, all Charleston, W.Va.; and Diane M. Ciambotti and her companion Hyatt Addie, Brookfield; a brother, Frank V. Ciambotti and Mary Ann Karsonovich, both Sharpsville; a nephew, Bart Cuddy and his wife Sherri, Charlotte, N.C.; two nieces, Jill Kimpan and her husband Andrew, Sharpsville; and Amber Altany, Sharpsville; six great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he adored; and two aunts, Edie Nicholson, Hermitage; and Jean Ciambotti, McKeesport, Pa. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Ciambotti, who died in infancy. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shenango Valley Children's Transplant Fund, c/o FNB, 3320 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
