Obituary

Laura Musial of Fairbrook Way, Sharpsville, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at 2:13 p.m. Wednesday (4-8-15) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 98. Mrs. Musial was born July 20, 1916, in Sharon, a daughter of Thomas and Caroline Kobialko Michnowski. She graduated from Sharon High School and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Youngstown. Laura was a registered nurse in pediatrics for what is now Sharon Regional Health System for more than 30 years. She retired in 1981. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she had a devotion to St. Jude and was a devout Catholic. Her husband, Charles Joseph Musial, whom she married Oct. 1, 1938, passed away Dec. 22, 1965. She is survived by: two daughters, Carolyn A. Dugan and her husband Charles; and M. Judith "Judy" Musial, all Sharpsville; her five grandchildren, Laurie Joanow and her husband Michael, Michael Dugan and his wife Tiffany, Daniel Dugan and his wife Jessica, Charles Dugan and his fiancée Amanda Hanson, and Amy Zier and her husband Jonathan; and seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Sophia, Nickolas and Angelique Joanow; Caitlynn and Stephen Dugan; and Emma Dugan. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Racketa; and two brothers, Casimir and Julius Michaels. Her family requests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory to please consider Shenango Valley Community Library, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, PA 16146; or a library of the donor's choice. Calling hours: Noon to time of service Saturday (4-11-15) in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Dutch Lane, Hermitage. Services: Mass of Christian burial at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the cemetery chapel with the Rev. Thomas J. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, as celebrant. Interment: St. Rose Cemetery.
