Kristina M. Ranttila, 7 Navajo Trail, Girard, Ohio; formerly of Sharon, PA passed away unexpectedly from surgical complications Sunday afternoon (3-13-11) in the Cleveland Clinic. She was 61.

Mrs. Ranttila was born September 24, 1949 in Sharon, a daughter of the late Wesley and Thelma Hess Eversole.

She attended St. Joseph Parochial Grade School, Sharon; was a 1967 alumna of Sharon High School and attended Youngstown State University. Active in the community, Kris was a former business owner and a volunteer for many non-profit organizations. She was recognized by the Niles Chamber of Commerce in the 1990's for her many contributions and named the Citizen of the Year. Kris will be remembered by many for her beautiful flowers that adorned her home, her delicious treats she baked and for her daily walks throughout the neighborhood. Her greatest legacy, however, was that she was a wonderful mother and wife who will be deeply missed.

A loving and devoted wife, she leaves her husband of 35 years, William A. Ranttila, whom she married November 18, 1975; two beautiful daughters whom she cherished, Dr. Nicole M. Ranttila, Chicago, IL; and Sharla R. Ranttila, Girard, Ohio; and a step-son, Daniel T. Ranttila, Beaufort, SC.

Besides her parents, Kris was preceded in death by a sister, Dianne Sample; and a brother, Ronald Eversole.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Warren Family Rescue Mission, 361 Elm Rd., Warren, Ohio 44483.

Calling hours will be from 4 -8 p.m. Thursday (3-17-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
