Kenneth P. Haney, Sr., 77, of New Castle, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, August 27, 2024, in his home.
Mr. Haney was born May 12, 1947, in New Castle, a son of the late Martin L. and Alice Catherine (McCormick) Haney, and was a 1965 graduate of Laurel High School.
Ken served in the Army National Guard for the State of California and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
For more than 40 years, Ken owned and operated the K.P. Haney Trucking Company, retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish of New Castle – St. Camillus Church. He was also a past member of the Elks Lodge 69, V.F.W. Post 215, and Fraternal Order of Eagles 455, all of New Castle.
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Ken also enjoyed playing golf and deer hunting.
Ken is survived by his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" (Vaughn) Haney; two sons, Ryan P. Haney (Amy) and Kenneth P. Haney, Jr., all of New Castle; a daughter Megan Leigh (Haney) Purtzer (Jonathan), of Grants Pass, OR; a step-daughter, Erin VanKirk Daugherty (Joseph), of New Castle; three grandchildren, Kaleah Rose Chase, Landon Joseph Daugherty, and Jackson Roy Daugherty; and 13 beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathaleen Proch, Eileen Meehan, and Marjorie Jenkins; two brothers, Joseph M. and Edward L. Haney; and two nephews, Joseph M. Haney, Jr. and Leo "Sonny" Proch.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately by the family at Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary's Church.
Entombment: St. Mary's Cemetery Columbarium, Union Twp.
