Kenneth W. Dexter of New Castle passed away
Tuesday
evening (2-16-16) in his residence, after an extended illness.
He was 84.
Mr. Dexter was born November 19, 1931, in New Castle, a son of Wardell and Elizabeth Krebs Dexter.
He was a graduate of Union High School and served as a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War.
Ken retired from the former LTV Steel, Youngstown, where he was a stationary engineer.
He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Carole Jean Schrantz, whom he married May 21, 1955; three daughters, Mary Ann Grinzivich and her husband John; Linda Tommelleo; and Helen Ferry and her husband John, all of New Castle; a son, Ronald Dexter and his wife Caryl, Hermitage; 7 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Peterson, Mingo Junction, Ohio; Irene Fay Stunkard, Fombell, PA; Virginia VanTassel and her husband Frank, Bayfield, Colorado; and Elizabeth "Betty" Hofmeiser and her husband Ernest, Moneta, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lee Dexter.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the VA Butler Healthcare, 325 New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.

Funeral service will be at
11 a.m.

) in the funeral home with the Rev. Max Bungard, pastor of New Castle Bible Church, officiating.
The New Castle Honor Guard will render military rites at
10:45 a.m.
Saturday
in the funeral home prior to the service.
Interment: Graceland Cemetery.
