Keith Robert Thompson of West Middlesex passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 4, 2016, in his home.
He was 32.
Keith was born January 9, 1984, in Lexington, KY, a son of Robert L. Thompson, Jr. and Kathleen Baugh Thompson.
He was a 2002 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, and attended Penn State University, Shenango Valley Campus, for two years.
A decorated war veteran, Keith served with the US Army in the 25
th
Infantry Div. for three years and was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
He was deployed to Iraq for combat duty in January of 2004 and remained there until his honorable discharge in February of 2005.
He then served with the US Army Reserves from 2007 until 2009.
Keith was a very proud and loyal soldier and was the recipient of many awards, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Two Army Accommodation Medals, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars and Expert Marksman Qualification Badge with Rifle, Pistol, Machine Gun and Grenade Bar.
He was a member of the Hickory VFW, Post 6166, Hermitage.
Keith attended Grace Chapel Community Church, Hermitage, and once assisted with their Vacation Bible School.
Surviving are: his mother, Kathy Baugh Thompson, Shenango Township; his father, Bob Thompson and his wife Debi, Mercer; a sister, Eileen P. Kelly and her husband Matthew, Mercer; two loving nephews whom Keith adored and often cared for, Aedan and Sage; grandmothers, Elizabeth "Betty" Baugh, Hermitage; and Anna Thompson, Delaware Township; and several uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family members.
Keith was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Baugh and Bob Thompson, Sr.; and an aunt, Pamela Baugh.

Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors.
