Kathryn Stefanowicz, 92, of Oil City, PA, formerly of Hermitage, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Oakwood Heights Village, Oil City.
Born December 13, 1933, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to Helen G. O’Brien Visnich and Miller Visnich. Attended Sharon Schools, graduating in 1952. Graduated from Saint Francis School of Nursing in New Castle in 1955 (Formally New Castle Hospital School of Nursing).
Married to Carl J. Stefanowicz at the Sacred Heart Church in Sharon, PA, on February 27, 1960. Her husband Carl preceded her in death on January 8, 2003.
Kathryn had one brother, Robert M. Visnich, a sister-in-law, Catherine “ Josie” Visnich, and a niece, Robin Visnich, who died on September 12, 1980.
Kathryn is survived by a daughter, Jeanan Deibert (Michael); a son, David B. Stefanowicz (Bobbie); along with the following grandchildren: Tristin Siegel (Jason), Justin Stefanowicz (Julia), Trevor Deibert (Ashley), Rasce Stefanowicz, Bryce Stefanowicz, and Skylar Stefanowicz. She is also survived by her niece, Sherry DeMario (Gary); and nephews, Michael Visnich (Belinda) and Matthew Visnich as well as the following nieces and nephew, Susan Reda, Carol Clepper, Debra Klutcher and Thomas Stefanowicz.
Kathryn worked at Sharon Regional Hospital, Westinghouse Electric, Dr. M. Wilson Snyder, and MCAR until her retirement in 1997. She received a lifetime membership to the Pennsylvania PTA in 1979 and was recognized by the YMCA of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, as Volunteer of the Year.
Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, where she was active in the women’s guild. She also belonged to the Retired Industrial Nurses Association, MCAR and the YMCA.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. on Friday (05/29/2026) in the chapel of St. Rose Cemetery, 779 Dutch Ln., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
