Kathleen Ann Rees, 72, of New Castle passed away Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018, in UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless, PA, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Rees was born October 21, 1945, in New Castle, a daughter of the late John D. Brophy, Sr. and Vera M. (Cubbal) Brophy. She was a lifelong area resident and 1963 graduate of New Castle High School.

Kathy retired from Save-A-Lot grocery store where she worked in the produce department, and was previously employed in a similar capacity at Joseph's Food Market, both in New Castle.

She was of the Christian faith.

Kathy was previously a member of the Polish Falcons, New Castle, and enjoyed playing bingo.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her husband of 52 years, William G. Rees, whom she married June 4, 1966; two sons, Douglas Rees, of New Castle, and William (Aprill) Rees, of Cape Coral, FL; two sisters, Vera (Raymond) Angelo and Carrie Marshall, both of New Castle; two brothers, John (Betty) Brophy, Jr., of Clayton, GA, and Joseph (Marcia) Brophy, of New Castle; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by an infant sister, Cheryl Brophy; and three brothers, infant Edward Brophy, and Dennis and Gary "Paul" Brophy.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday (7-29-18) in Croton United Methodist Church, 910 N. Croton Ave, New Castle.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
