Katherine Elizabeth Kate' Landman, 44, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Kate was born Jan. 29, 1971, in New Castle, a daughter of Paul Lenny and Patricia J. Carter Boyce. She graduated from New Castle High School and attended Penn State University, where she received her bachelor of science degree in family and child development. She furthered her education at Geneva College and received her bachelor of science degree in human resources. She was employed at the Children's Advocacy Center in New Castle as a counselor and supervisor. Kate was a member of the Lawrence County Homeless Coalition. She enjoyed cooking, birdwatching and being with her family. Her husband, Steve W. Landman, whom she married Dec. 23, 1994, survives at home. Also surviving is her daughter, Chelsie Landman, at home; her son, Steven Landman of State College, Pa.; her parents, Lenny and Pat Boyce of New Castle; paternal grandmother, Edna Boyce of New Castle; two brothers, Louis Boyce and his wife, Shannon, of Seaford, Va., and Paul Boyce and his wife, Ashley, of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Paul L. Boyce Sr., and maternal grandparents, Edward and Betty Cooper Carter. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. A service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Interment will be in Madonna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Katie Boyce Landman Benefit Fund, in care of First National Bank, 1718 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA, 16105.
