Obituary

Karl Tremmel, Sr., 92, of Farrell, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Born on March 15, 1933, in Krndija, Yugoslavia, he was a son of the late Johann and Maria (Koch) Tremmel. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 18.

Karl wore many hats in life, starting off as a teenager working in a glass factory in Austria. After immigrating to the US, he worked at Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant and then Sawhill Tubular for 37 years, with the final position of crane operator.

Karl was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon.

He was also a member of the former German Home and VFW Post 5286, both in Farrell, and the Apollo Maennerchor Club in Sharon, where he also sang in the choir.

A talented cook, he will be remembered for his sausage making and rum balls.  Karl liked dancing, maintaining his German flower boxes, and walking his property. He enjoyed traveling and told others, "The more you travel, the better a person you are because you learn about other people."

Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

His wife, the former Theresa Thiel, whom he married on July 18, 1959, passed away on April 28, 1976.

He is survived by three sons, Frank Tremmel and his former wife, Kay, of San Gabriel, CA,  Joseph Tremmel and his wife,  Mary, of Hermitage, and Karl Tremmel, Jr. and his life partner, Bernadette, of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Theresa Johnson and her husband, Kyle, Melissa Kent and her husband, Austin, Amy Tremmel and Nikolaus Tremmel. Also surviving are two sisters, Katherine Peters, Anna Marie Klanac and her husband, Michael; a brother, Peter Tremmel and his wife, Ann; and a sister-in-law, Veronica Tremmel.

In addition to his parents and wife, Karl was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Rehlinger, and four brothers, Paul, Albert, Jacob and Adolf Tremmel.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
