Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday for Julia Helen Mankas, Hermitage, who passed away peacefully at 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday (3-23-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 72.
Mrs. Mankas was born on May 9, 1937 in Hubbard Ohio the daughter of James and Ethel Thomas Rea.
A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Brookfield High School in 1955.
In her early years she had been employed as a bookkeeper at the former M & M Bank in downtown Sharon.
Mrs. Mankas was a homemaker and belonged to St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.
She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and close friends, she especially enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren.
Her husband Donald M. Mankas whom she married September 5th, 1959, passed away December 19, 1998.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judith A. Gay and her husband Michael, Hermitage, and Janice L. Maurice and her husband Pete, Sharpsville; one sister, Donna Tucci, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Jason Michael Gay, Andrew Donald Gay, Ryan Paul Maurice, Kyle James Maurice, and Rachel Patrick Maurice.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, James Findley Rea.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave. Sharon Pa. 16146

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday (3-27-10) at 1:00 p.m. in St. Rose Cemetery chapel on Dutch Lane, Hermitage, with Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph's Church as celebrant. A brief prayer service will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home prior to leaving for the cemetery chapel.
