Julia May 'Cookie' Longo, 110 Wakefield Dr., Sharpsville, passed away of cancer at 9:58 a.m. Saturday (3-6-10) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 66.

Mrs. Longo was born July 18, 1943 in Sharon a daughter of the late Julius and Dorothy Rodashan Fratila.

She was a lifelong area resident and a 1961 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage.

Cookie was a claims representative for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., New Castle, for the past ten years. She was previously employed as a supervisor in the data processing department for 35 years at the former Golden Dawn Foods Distribution Center, Sharon, and later, the former Peter J. Schmitt Co., N. Jackson, Ohio. Cookie and her husband also owned and operated the former Longo's Motel, Longo's Drive Thru and Longo's Pizza, all Liberty Township (Trumbull County), Ohio.

She was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; and a former member of St. Rose Church, Girard, Ohio. Cookie enjoyed reading, going to the casinos and taking care of her cats. Years earlier, she participated in golf and bowling.

Surviving are: her husband of 38 years, Thomas B. Longo, whom she married October 23, 1971 in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; a son, Julian A. Longo, Cortland, Ohio; and a sister, Sophie Lentini, Las Vegas, NV.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (3-10-10) in Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, pastor, as celebrant.

The family will receive friends immediately following the Mass at a luncheon in the multi purpose room of Notre Dame School, which is adjacent to the church.
