Judith Ann Paulitz of Sharon passed away at
2:22 p.m.
Sunday, March 13, 2016, in her residence, with her family and best friends by her side, following a heroic eleven month battle with glioblastoma.
She was 65.
Judi was born Jan. 31, 1951, in Sharon, a daughter of John and Helen Baker Paulitz.
She was a 1968 graduate of Sharon High School and earned an associate degree in accounting from Penn State University, Shenango Valley campus, in 1970.
Judi retired on
January 1
st
of this year from St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, where she was employed in the billing department for 43 years.
She also co-owned the former Marian Home on Linden St. in Sharon, which was a personal care home.
Judi was an active member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer in its food pantry.
As a breast cancer survivor, Judi was responsible for the development of Joanie's Sisters In Support, a support group for cancer patients and survivors.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, her cats and spending time with her family and friends.
She also volunteered at the Joanie Abdu Center in Youngstown and was a supporter of Joshua's Haven in Sharon.
Surviving are: two brothers, John Paulitz and his wife Mary Ann, Hubbard; and Daniel Paulitz and his wife Jeanie, Sharon; 8 nieces and nephews; thirteen great nieces and nephews; a great great nephew; and her best friends, Linda Mercadante and Mary Rufener, who were like sisters to Judi.
Judi was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Justine Yost; a brother-in-law, William Yost; and her grandparents, Joseph and Regina Baker and John and Theresa Paulitz.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44501; or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley and all of Judi's caregivers for their exceptional care.
