Judith A. Carr-Lowry, 85, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, in Haven Convalescent Home, New Castle.

Mrs. Carr-Lowry was born July 29, 1938, in New Castle, a daughter of the late James and Jeanette (Battistoni) Scocchera and was a graduate of New Castle High School.

Judy worked as a manager of The Ladies Store in New Castle.

In addition to baking and cooking, she enjoyed cleaning her home and decorating for every season and holiday.  Judy had a passion for both flower and vegetable gardening.

Her first husband, James Carr Sr., whom she married in 1957, preceded her in death in 1995.

Judy is survived by her husband, Allen Lowry, whom she married February 21, 1999; three sons, Jimmy Carr (Debbie) and Norman Carr, all of New Castle, and David Carr (Barbara), of Pulaski; a daughter, Diane Herd (Bill), of Santa Cruz, CA; a sister, Mary Lou Gallatin, of New Castle; a brother, James Scocchera, of Lincolnton, NC.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a step-son, Jason Lowry, of Rockville, MD; and a step-daughter, Marci Lowry, of Wilmington, NC.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Judy was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Scocchera; a brother-in-law, Daniel Gallatin; a sister-in-law, Shirley Scocchera; and a stepmother, Theresa (Scaduto) Scocchera.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Haven Convalescent Home for their exceptional care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, online at stjude.org/give.

Memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (4-18-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle, with Rev. Ben Barr, officiating.

Calling hours will be immediately following from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment: Oak Park Cemetery, Neshannock, Twp.
