Judith "Judy" A. Axe, of Sharon, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, in Clepper Manor, after an extended illness. She was 67. Mrs. Axe was born October 5, 1947, in Sharon, a daughter of John "Jack" and Mary (Klenotich) Atterholt. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1966 graduate of Sharon High School. Judy retired in 2012 from the Mercer County Housing Authority where she was employed for more than twenty years. She was a former member of East Side Church (Disciples of Christ), Sharon. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored, and attending their athletic and scholastic events. She also liked bingo. Her husband, George Dean Axe, whom she married September 14, 1968, died August 9, 2012. Surviving are: two daughters, Michelle "Shelly" L. Axe and her fiancé, Michael Quinn; and Shelia A. Norris and her husband Larry; a son, George D. Axe, III, all of Sharon; three grandchildren, Jarray, Lashaya and Iresha Norris; 3 step-grandchildren, Marquise Norris, Charmella Phillips and Emily Smanko; three sisters, Mary Jane Hammond, Masury; Jennie Hammond and her husband Bob, Sun City, AZ; and Jackie Mitcheltree, Sharon; two brothers, Robert Atterholt and his wife Lois, Transfer; and Joseph Atterholt and his wife Mary Ellen, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Judy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Belock and an infant; an adolescent brother; and a brother-in-law, David Olshavsky. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the funeral home. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
