Obituary

No services are planned for Judith Lynn Alexander, Winterberry Court, Hermitage, formerly of Alcoma Street, Sharon, who died of cancer at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, in her home, following an extended illness. She was 75. Mrs. Alexander was born July 1, 1939, in Sharon, a daughter of Phil and Evelyn (Hynd) King. She was a 1957 alumna of Sharon High School and earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Slippery Rock University. Judy began her teaching career in Brookfield Local School District, where she taught two years, and retired in 1994 from Sharon City School District, where she was an English teacher for 27 years. She was a member of the National and Pennsylvania State education associations. Judy was an avid reader, rarely without a book being read. Her greatest joy was when she was able to spend time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Anytime she was planning on being with her many friends and family she was expected to make her macaroni salad or rum cake she was known for. Christmas was special to Judy. She needle pointed Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren and her work was admired by everyone who saw the stockings. Surviving are: her husband, Michael "Mickey" Alexander, whom she married Aug. 19, 1961, in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon; a daughter, Lynn Trefzger and her husband Ken, Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Mark Alexander and his wife Cathy, Sharpsville; seven grandchildren, Jake Alexander, Pittsburgh; Hannah Alexander, Sharon; Michael, Eric and Alexandra Trefzger, all Raleigh; and Andrew Bucciarelli and his wife Meagan, and Erin Andrekovich and her husband Patrick, all Cranberry Township, Butler County; and two great-grandchildren, Max and Marleekate Andrekovich, also Cranberry Township. She also leaves a brother-in law, Dennis Alexander, Sharon, and his children, Dr. Todd Alexander and his wife Lynn and their children, Natalie and Nicholas; a sister-in-law, Dr. Margie Wallace, Waterford, Pa., and her children, Bleakley McDowell and his wife Leslie and their daughter Rose, New York, N.Y.; and Julie Ann Royzman and her husband Arsen, Westchester, N.Y., and their children, Rachael and Alexandra; and two nephews, Scot Webster and his wife Bonnie, West Virginia; and David Webster and his wife Kathy, New Mexico. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Connie Webster and her husband, David Webster; a sister-in-law, Sandy Alexander; a brother- in-law, Dr. Robert Wallace; and a nephew, Paul McDowell. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 3208 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105; Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148; or to a charity of the donor's choice. Calling hours and service: None at Judy's request. Arrangements by J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
