Joyce Sherretts

Joyce E. Sherretts, 89, a longtime resident of Linesville, PA, passed away peacefully Monday morning, December 8, 2025, in Quality of Life Services, New Castle.

Mrs. Sherretts was born November 27, 1936, in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of Claude H. and Florence E. (Bullis) Ray. A 1955 graduate of Linesville High School, she attended C.J. Meyer Nursing School in Buffalo, NY, earning her Registered Nursing Degree in 1957.

Joyce worked as a nurse for 40 years, primarily at the Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA.

She was most recently a member of the House of Prayer, Meadville, PA, and was formerly a longtime member of Linesville Alliance Church, Linesville, PA, where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the youth program.

A talented musician, Joyce enjoyed playing the piano and organ, especially at church. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and traveling.

Above all, Joyce cherished time well spent with family and friends.

Her husband, Ira W. Sherretts, whom she married April 25, 1959, preceded her in death in 1994.

Joyce is survived by two daughters, Barbara Miller (Don), Mercer, and Dawn Wyatt (Doug), Orlando, FL; a son, Wayne Sherretts, Conneautville, PA; three grandchildren, Dustin Lawrence (Dannette), Derek Lawrence (Renee), and Laura Webb (Matt); and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Ray.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to The Altar I.H.O.P., P.O. Box 1113, Meadville, PA 16335.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours, and the funeral service will be private.
