Josephine 'Wella' Ortiz, age 79, of 1112 Harbor- Edinburg Road, Edinburg, Pa., passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Friday (2-24-12) in Edison Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New Castle following an extended illness.

She was born July 4, 1932 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico the daughter of Domingo and Encarncion Melindez Lopez.

She was raised and educated in Puerto Rico.

A homemaker, she belonged to St. Camillus Church.

Wella Fina was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Her husband Jose Raymond Ortiz whom she married on March25, 1955, passed away on June 10, 2004.

She is survived by her four daughters, Miriam Ortiz, at home, Carmen Gates, New Castle, Anna Rashid, Bessemer, and Maria Ostapowicz and her husband John, Edinburg, her son Angelo Ortiz, and her six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (2-28-12) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, Pa.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday (2-29-12) in St. Camillus Church 314 W Englewood Ave., at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Thomas J. Lewandowski, pastor of St. Camillus as the celebrant.
