Josephine Ann Holoman, 92, of Neshannock Twp., passed away at 8:38 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, PA.
Josephine was born May 8, 1926, in Mammoth, PA, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Anna (Uschock) Mizikar. She was a 1944 graduate of Hurst High School, Norvelt, PA. Josephine then matriculated to the former H. C. Frick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Mt. Pleasant, PA., where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1947. She remained at H.C. Frick Memorial Hospital, working as a nurse, and later worked in the same capacity at Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle, retiring in 1982.
She was a devout member of St. Mary's Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, New Castle, and its Ladies Guild and Christian Mothers. Josephine was also a member of the Jameson Retirees, the Auxiliary to the retired State Police Association of PA, and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus Council 512, New Castle.
A gifted artist, Josephine loved to paint beautiful creations in water colors. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family.
Surviving are: her loving husband of 68 years, John R. Holoman, whom she married on May 28, 1950; four daughters, Kathleen Reynolds (Carl) Jernejcic, Concord, OH, Bonnie (Paul) Budai, New Castle, Mary Ann (William) Yeamans, Shelocta, PA, and Michele (Eric) Wetzel, Indiana, PA: one son, John T. (Tracy) Holoman, Hermitage; one sister, Ellona Pendrick, and two brothers, David and Robert Mizikar, all of Mammoth, PA; 10 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and William Mizkar.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (7-27-18) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St. , New Castle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. Vincent F. Kolo, as celebrant.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday (7-30-18) in St. Florian's Cemetery, Trauger, PA.
