Joseph P. 'Josie Desmond' Vanord of 360 S. Irvine Ave. Sharon, PA. passed away at 12:41 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 in his residence. He was 46.
Mr. Vanord was born in Sharon, Pa on February 25, 1964, a son of Jack Vanord and Rosemary Keifer.
He graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in Cosmetology.
Joseph was of the Christian faith. He was a female impersonator and went by the stage name of Josie Desmond. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include: his father, Jack Vanord Pensacola, FL, a niece Lydia Smith-Neely of Masury, OH; an aunt, Lillian Bayer, Hermitage, PA; a cousin, Michael Bayer of Sharon, PA; a lifelong friend, Duane Smitley of Masury, OH.
Besides his mother, Joseph was preceded in death by a grandmother, Kathryn Kiefer, an uncle, George Kiefer, and an aunt, Evelyn McQuilken.
Calling hours will be a half hour prior to the memorial service on Friday, July 30, 2010 in the gazebo at the top of Buhl Park
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the gazebo at the top of Buhl Park with Rev. Nora Smith of the Word of God Christian Fellowship Church, Canfield, OH.
