Joseph "Sep" Schibli of Hermitage passed away peacefully at 6:40 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, in his residence surrounded by his family. He was 85. Mr. Schibli was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Yugoslavia, a son of Josef and Theresa Geiser Schibli. Educated in Yugoslavia, he immigrated to the United States in 1952. Joseph retired in 1991 from Sawhill Tubular Products, Sharon, where he was employed for 38 years. Mr. Schibli was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, where he was actively involved in many church activities. His love for Jesus and Mary the Blessed Mother took him to Medjugorje, Croatia and Rome, Italy; as well as many shrines in the United States and Canada. Joseph enjoyed gardening, yard work, traveling, dancing with his wife and doing projects at his children's homes. He was a masterful "do-it-yourselfer" who could fix anything. He also loved animals and bird watching with Charlie the dog. There was no greater love for him than his family and spending time with them. He was a dedicated and loving husband and a wonderful father. He was extremely proud and loving toward his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made them his focus in his later years. There were so many happy times and wonderful memories. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Surviving are: his beloved wife of 59 years, Rose Schibli, whom he married Oct. 8, 1955, in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon; a daughter, Rosemaria Podleyon and her husband John, Hermitage; a son, Peter Schibli and his wife Diana, Hermitage; four grandchildren, Joe Podleyon and his wife Teresa; Krista Podleyon, Matthew Schibli and Kaitlin Schibli; two great-grandchildren, Keira Podleyon and Johnny Podleyon; a brother, Peter Schibli and his wife Anna, Hermitage; several brothersand sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Hans Schibli; a nephew, John Schibli, D.O.; two sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law; and a great-nephew and two great-nieces. Service: Mass of Christian burial at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (4-8-15) in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Joseph Campbell, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
