Joseph Richter, 91, of Hermitage passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019, following an extended illness.
Mr. Richter was born February 18, 1927, in Krindia, Yugoslavia, a son of the late Frank and Rosalia (Hermann) Richter. He was educated in Europe and immigrated to the United States in 1952. Joseph retired in 1984 from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant where he worked in the finishing department.
On January 15, 1955 he married Maria Braunstein in St. Joseph Church, Youngstown, Ohio.
Joseph was a member of St. Anthony's Church and the Maennerchor Club, both in Sharon.
He greatly enjoyed reading, gardening and playing cards.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Maria Richter; his son, Dr. Robert J. Richter, of Columbus, Ohio; and two sisters-in-law, Rosie Richter of Wisconsin and Elizabeth Richter of Toronto, Canada.
Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl of Toronto and Rudy of Chicago.

Calling hour will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019, in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Hermitage.
