Joseph M. Pupinak, 54, of Hillsville passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday morning, February 5, 2019, in his residence.
Joe was born February 5, 1965, in New Castle, to the late Frank and Evalyn (Poliwka) Pupinak. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1983 graduate of Union High School. Joseph served in the Army from April 6, 1984 to Sept. 5, 1986, serving most of his time in Germany. Joe was employed as a mechanic at Fitzgerald's Auto service in Hillsville for 20 years. He was a member of AMVETS Post 44 in Struthers, Ohio and a former member of St. Mary's Church, New Castle.
Joe was a gifted handyman with a great knowledge of mechanics. He was always there for everyone and would help anybody. Joe could build a house, plumb it, wire it and then cook dinner. A faith driven and giving man, Joe always had a smile on his face and a joke in his pocket. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, music and most of all cars.
Surviving is his sister, Frances Lastoria and his brother in law Kevin, of New Castle. He will be sadly missed by Audrey and Alijah. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his fiancé, Tammy Ritenour.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday (2-10-19) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 5 p.m. conducted by Chaplin Bill Beck of Motor Racing Outreach.
Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard prior to the service.
