Obituary

Joseph M. Perriello of Farrell passed away at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, where he was a resident for one month. He was 88. Mr. Perriello was born May 8, 1927, in Woodlawn, PA, a son of Anthony and Helen Pezzelle Perriello. Moving to the area as a young boy, he was a 1945 graduate of Farrell High School and served with the U.S. Marine Corp. during WW II. Joe was employed by J & L Steel in Aliquippa for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 160; VFW, Post 5286; and the Monday afternoon senior bowling league at Sunset Lanes, all Farrell. Joe was an avid golfer who had several holes-in-one and enjoyed working at the Hickory VFW Golf Course in Hermitage after his retirement. Surviving are: his wife, the former Lucille A. Iacino, who he married September 4, 1950; a sister, Barbara Kozma, Sharon; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Perriello, Sharpsville; a brother-in-law, Howard Wilhelm, Hopewell Township (Beaver County); and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him and who he treated like they were his own children. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Perriello; and a sister, Rose Catherine Wilhelm. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121; or to a Disabled American Veteran Charity. There are no calling hours. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant. Military honors will be rendered by the West Middlesex VFW, Wheatland American Legion and Farrell VFW honor guard immediately following the Mass. Interment: St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Farrell.
